UMUAHIA – Hours to the commencement of the final funeral rites for late Eze Israel Kanu and wife, Sally, parents of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), residents of Umuahia and its environs are living in fear.

This is as members of the IPOB insisted and have shifted their resolve to take an active part in the burial ceremony against repeated warning to the group by the Police not to show up in any of the burial rites for Kanu’s parents.

DAILY INDEPENDENT reports that the fears became pronounced since last week among residents of Umuahia following the alleged presence of the Military personnel within the ancestral home of Nnamdi Kanu.

However, as at Thursday evening, it was gathered that some of the non-natives residing in the community have relocated to homes of their relatives and friends going by their experience of September 2017 when the Military carried out an onslaught against members of IPOB who had turned the community into their stronghold.
